Pressure-reducing valves
Pressure reducing valves or pressure regulating valves reduce or increase process pressure relative to the preset value on a continuous basis. They do this with the aim of keeping the pressure as constant as possible. We supply pressure reducing valves that are activated by a control line and valves that are fully self-controlled. The valve opens and closes in a linear fashion once the maximum or minimum pressure level is passed. These valves are suitable for steam, compressed air water and neutral gases.
The self-steering valves (types PRV and VD) are equipped with a spring that responds directly to pressure differences within the valve. The valves with control line (type M) respond indirectly as the medium exerts pressure on the diaphragm through the control line. The diaphragm responds to these pressure differences by opening or closing in response to a change in pressure.

Application
As the downstream demand increases, the downstream pressure will decrease. This decreases the pressure on the diaphragm or spring of the valve and opens the regulator further to allow more flow. When the downstream demand decreases, the downstream pressure will increase. In this case, the regulator allows less flow to decrease the pressure in the system. When the line is completely filled and the pressure exceeds the preset value, the valve will close to maintain the pressure.
