IMPACT™ Spring Assistance

The purpose of the patented Impact™ Spring Assist is to increase the performance of single-acting pneumatic actuators by providing a boost during spring stroke.

In a fail-safe actuator, compressed air in the actuator pre-loads the springs. During normal operation, each time the solenoid is activated, compressed air is released into the atmosphere through the solenoid's exhaust port. The patented IMPACT™ unit redirects some of this energy back into the spring chamber to reuse this air, so to speak. As a result, the actuator's torque is increased by at least 50%.
